The ACP301 – Pneumatic Cylinder Actuator , developed by SMAR, is a piece of equipment with the objective of responding to the growing needs of the industry, mainly with regard to control applications in pneumatic cylinders.

The Pneumatic Cylinder Actuator (ACP301) combines the power of pneumatic cylinders with the potential of the intelligent FY microprocessor positioner, allowing applications in modulating control. The ACP’s modular structure allows it to be mounted on a wide variety of cylinder sizes using a single mounting bracket version. The Pneumatic Cylinder Actuator (ACP301) is available in several sizes, selected according to the required function and stroke. The models can be of two types: Linear or Rotary, for different courses of work.

Through the action of the FY301 positioner , the position of the double action pneumatic cylinder is controlled, through the linear or rotary magnet system via Hall effect. With this positioning system, one of the greatest disadvantages of pneumatic action is overcome, which is obtaining intermediate cylinder stops. More than bringing microprocessing to the cylinder, the ACP301 is available in linear and rotary versions, giving the user freedom of application in various final control elements, such as dampers (to control furnace draft), gates, large valves and other applications that require movement control.

The ACP301 receives a standard 4-20 mA protocol signal from the controller that activates and directs the cylinder to the exact desired position, according to the strategy and tuning of the control loop to which it is applied. By putting intelligence into the cylinder, the ACP301 allows the user to configure the opening characteristic of the cylinder with the received control signal.

In addition, the facilities of the HART communication protocol allow a simple interface between the field and the control room and several features that reduce installation, operation and maintenance costs:

Compact and modular design;
Easy installation;
Position sensor, without mechanical contact via Hall effect;
Simple parameter adjustment with local controls and displays;
Weatherproof, explosion-proof and intrinsically safe positioner;
Changing the opening feature via software;
Auto configuration in a few minutes;
Self-lubricating, no need for external lubricants;
Optional limit switch for the pneumatic cylinder;
Built-in regulating filter.
